Public Safety
Public safety isn’t a slogan—it’s whether your family feels safe, whether an ambulance shows up fast, and whether serious crimes get solved. Tanya Lakins supports a practical, bipartisan approach: strong emergency response, targeted strategies to reduce violence, and real accountability so taxpayers know what’s working.
Tanya believes we can be both tough and smart: focus on violent crime, prevent overdoses, support first responders, and invest in approaches that reduce repeat harm. She will work with law enforcement, EMS, schools, and community leaders to focus resources where they have the biggest impact. She will push for resources that improve investigations and response times, not politics that divide neighbors. She supports accountability that improves performance and builds public trust—so families feel safe and taxpayers can see results.
Tanya’s plan starts with what works:
-
Emergency response that people can count on. If you call 911, help should arrive quickly and reliably—whether you live in town or outside it.
-
Violent crime solved, not just talked about. Solving serious crimes protects families, supports victims, and deters future violence. Tanya supports giving law enforcement the resources to solve more violent crimes—and requiring clear public reporting so taxpayers can see what’s working.
-
Overdose prevention and treatment pathways. Fentanyl and addiction are affecting families across party lines. Tanya supports prevention tools, recovery supports, and coordination that reduces repeat emergencies.
-
Common-sense safety measures that protect kids and reduce tragedy. Responsible safety isn’t anti-rights—it’s pro-family.
Legislation Tanya would support
SB 271 (signed): stronger EMS/ambulance accountability and emergency readiness.
HB 495: public safety policy updates including referral/reporting requirements.
SB 473: clearance-rate transparency and grants to improve solving violent crime.
SB 189 (conference stall): included clearance and grant components worth passing.
SB 207: addresses unsafe firearm storage when it leads to harm.
Every dollar helps us reach more families and build a campaign that puts people over politics.
